A local event that will allow participants to work with various prairie seeds will come to Perry later this month.
Dallas County Conservation Board Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says at the Forest Park Museum in Perry later this month there will be a prairie seed harvest program, which will take place October 30th and 31st.
“Collecting prairie wildflower seeds that will then be replanted in the spring and just educating people about the importance of prairie and the effect that that has on our ecosystem as well.”
The program will run from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on both days. Those attending are asked to bring gloves and all the necessary supplies will be provided to participants. The program is also weather dependent and no registration is required.
