The Panorama Panthers Football Team headed to Guthrie Center Friday night looking to keep their historical win streak against the Chargers alive but were unable to get anything going.
The Panthers were facing one of the best teams in Class 1A District 7 football against the Chargers who were 6-0 going into Friday night’s game. The Panthers were unable to do much against the Chargers as they fell by a score of 70-0. Dating back to 2008 the Panthers were 9-0 historically against the Chargers but that streak ended Friday night.
The Panthers were unable to get anything going offensively and struggled with turnovers throughout the game. The Chargers again leaned on their rushing attack lead by senior running back Gavin Cornelison. The Panthers fell to 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in conference play while the Chargers improved to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play and head to Van Meter next week to face the Bulldogs.
The Panorama Panthers Football Team will look to finish their season out and come away with one more win on the season as they take on the Nodaway Valley Wolverines next week in Panora where they will also celebrate senior night.
The Panthers have 11 seniors on the team in Hunter Pauley, Austin Block, Kyle McClatchey, Joseph Nelson, Gavin Godfrey, Wyatt Carstens, Nile Lindstrom, Josh VanWinkle, Cooper Andersen, Brice Taylor and Jared Wasson which will be honored next Friday night in Panora with kickoff against the Wolverines scheduled for 7 p.m. October 15th.
