The next series of online classes for ways to help those caring for a loved one starts later this month.

Greene County ISU Extension Director Lori Mannel says Powerful Tools for Caregivers is for those individuals who are caring for a loved one or a neighbor, who may be experiencing common chronic health issues such as dementia and Alheimzer’s Disease. She talks about some of the challenges these caregivers encounter.

“As a caregiver, it’s very stressful on you. You may forget to eat properly, get some exercise, and it’s also a bit of a drain on your mental wellness.”

Mannel points out the six-week course teaches you support strategies and communication skills. The program will be held online for six Tuesdays from October 12th-November 16th from 7-8:30pm. The cost to participate is $40 per person and registration is done online by clicking the link below or stopping by the Greene County Extension office in Jefferson.
