The Panorama Panthers Volleyball Team headed to Van Meter Tuesday night to take on the Bulldogs and lost in three sets.

The Panorama Panthers entered into their first match this week with an overall record of 6-12 on the season and 3-2 in the conference looking to pick up a win against the then 12-8 Bulldogs. The Panthers lost in three sets falling to 6-13 on the season while the Bulldogs improved to 13-8 on the season.

The Panthers fell behind early losing set one 25-13 then lost set two 25-16 and finally losing set three 25-14 as they were unable to crack 20 points in any of the sets. The Panthers struggled with kill efficiency during the match at .143.

Head Volleyball Coach Joanne Sandage says Jaidyn Sellers led the way in kills managing eight on the night while Grace Webner added five kills and Jasmarie Flanery, Jazmyn Sellers and Tyme Boettcher each added two kills on the night,

For offense Mollie Monthei led the way with 19 assists on the night and Jazmyn Sellers went 9 for 10 serving with one ace. Tyme Boettcher had ten digs on the night while Jazmyn Sellers  had seven and Jaidyn Sellers had six digs on the night.

Sandage says despite the Bulldogs coming out of Tuesday night with a victory the Panthers played hard and did not give up. Sandage says the Bulldogs team had a lot of hitting weapons which led to them being able to score points. Sandage says she felt the Panthers read and played defense well against a good hitting team in the Bulldogs.

The Panthers will be looking to try and get a win this week with their second match against the AC/GC Chargers in a Guthrie County rivalry match when they square off in Panora this Thursday for Pink Out night with that match set to begin at 7 p.m.
