P-C Homecoming King is Riley Cullum and Queen is Carmyn Paup
This week is homecoming for Greene County and Paton-Churdan high schools.
Sunday afternoon with the king and queen coronation ceremony for P-C. The Homecoming King was Riley Cullum and Queen was Carmyn Paup. Cullum described his initial reaction to being crowned Homecoming King.
“Honestly shocked, didn’t think I was going to win. It’s pretty cool. Nice to know that people like me, that’s always nice to hear.”
Other highlights for the week include games for the high school students during advisory times, including a banner decorating contest, guess the teacher, and Friday will be a series of mini games. Additionally, during the home volleyball match on Tuesday night there will be a free-will donation meal with the Greene County Pork Producers serving pork burgers, chips and water and the first 50 students will receive a free popcorn ticket. Student Council member Alexa Peters talks about why they wanted to have activities during advisory time.
“Some people aren’t involved in a sport season during this time and this way, during advisory, we can all connect and have everyone involved in homecoming.”
The week ends with the parade, with the route going from the middle school north on Chestnut Street to the Greene County Courthouse, where the community pep rally and coronation ceremony will be held following the parade. The home football game will be against Red Oak with live broadcast on KGRA 98.9FM with kickoff at 7pm. Saturday will be the dance from 8-10pm at the middle school gym with a $5 admission fee.
As a reminder the public is invited to participate in dress up days. Today is “Dress To Impress,” tomorrow is “Pajama Day,” Wednesday is “Opposite Day,” Thursday is “Throwback Day,” and Friday is “Ram Spirit Day.” Participants are encouraged to take a selfie and tag “Ram Fanatic” on Facebook. The winners will be announced during halftime of the football game and they will win a traveling trophy.
