Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football had their homecoming game on Friday night, as they were able to grab a victory 40-16 with the game ending with 3:24 in the 3rd quarter due to a severe injury to an Atlantic player.
Atlantic Wide Receiver Garrett McLaren was trying to rush through the middle before taking a big hit that knocked him onto the turf. He laid there for 15 plus minutes as training staff, EMTs, and other officials helped attend to him. McLaren eventually was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The game ended after both coaching staffs agreed to end it following the serious injury. According to social media postings from the McLaren family, his condition is improving and he has been released from the hospital according to media reports. Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to stay updated on his condition.
The Tigers were able to overcome an early two turnovers and 13-0 deficit by outscoring Atlantic 40-3 the rest of the way, as sophomore running back Brevin Doll was able to account for three rushing touchdowns on the night and Matt Dufoe was able to up his season total to 16 after a passing and rushing touchdown. The Tigers were once again able to establish a running game, and the defense was able to make some positive strides throughout the evening as well after a rough outing from a week before.
ADM moves to 4-1 on the season and Atlantic to 1-4 , as the Tigers pick up their first district win. This is the best start for the Tigers since 2018. ADM will have a big game next Friday against Creston on the road, as both of these teams have winning records and the game could play a big factor on who qualifies for the state playoffs.
