Raising funds is important for local animal shelters to help cover costs of taking care of animals, and an annual ride to raise money takes place today. 

The 13th Annual AHeinz 57 Ruff Ride is today beginning with registration at 10 a.m. at Ambro’s Roadhouse in DeSoto and the ride will leave at approximately 11 a.m. The featured stops include Ruby’s Pub in Stuart, Owl’s Nest in Panora and Twisted Corn in Dallas Center. 

After the ride those participating are encouraged to return to Ambro’s Roadhouse for food, contests, fun, prizes and live music beginning at 3:30 p.m. Poker hands will be available for purchase for $5 for the first hand and $10 for additional hands during the registration period. The poker hands can allow participants to earn prizes and there will also be a raffle happening. 

The annual ride raises money to support the animals in the shelter.
