Dallas Center – Grimes Mustangs football once again was able to take a 10-6 lead into the locker room on Friday night in their homecoming game against Winterset, but once again the second half turned unfortunate for the home team as Winterset was able to come away with a road victory 20-13. DCG moves to 0-5 and Winterset improves to 4-1.
For the second consecutive week, DCG went into the locker room with a halftime lead but couldn’t keep it once again despite a spirited effort at home. Turnovers played a factor as DCG had three on the night, losing the key turnover battle.
Senior Winterest running back Dawson Forgy was able to put up some big numbers on the night, as he had 26 carries for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns, as the Mustangs struggled to slow him down throughout the night. Josh Hendricks had 11 tackles on the night for the Mustangs, putting together another solid showing. The one Mustang touchdown came for quarterback Huston Halverson to Trevor Hamil in the first half.
Mustangs football will be looking for a bounce back game this week when they take on Council Bluffs Jefferson at home this week, as DCG will remain on the hunt in search of their first win of the season.
