Next week is the Greene County and Paton-Churdan high school homecoming.

The week of festivities kicks off Sunday with a boys volleyball match at the high school gym at 1pm, followed by the P-C king and queen coronation ceremony at the school building in Churdan at 4pm. Then at 7pm will be the Powderpuff football game at the football field in Jefferson. Admission to the volleyball and football competitions is a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Greene County Action Resource Center.

Student Council member Alexa Peters talks about the return of the football game after not having it last year due to COVID-19.

“Last time I was involved was freshman year, so two years ago, and it was really fun. I’m really glad we’re bringing that back because last year we didn’t have it at all and we didn’t have a lot of stuff last year because of COVID. I’m really glad to get back to kind of the normal thing during homecoming.”

During the next week, there will be dress up days. Monday is “Dress to Impress” for picture day at the high school, Tuesday is “Pajama Day,” Wednesday is “Opposite Day,” Thursday is “Throwback Day” where people can dress in the 1980s and 90s fashion, and Friday is “Ram Spirit Day.” Junior Class President Olivia Shannon explains how everyone can get involved with dress up days.

“We are inviting the community and businesses to participate in our dress up days to show our Ram spirit. Tag Ram Fanatic on Facebook with your photos. Winners will be announced at halftime of the football game and presented with a traveling trophy.”

This year’s homecoming theme is Ram the Tigers because the Friday night game is against the Red Oak Tigers.
