Heads up for property owners, property taxes are due at the end of this month.

Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen says the first half of property taxes are due by October 1st. If someone doesn’t pay their taxes by then a penalty of 1.5-percent will be added onto the payment. Mechaelsen notes there are several ways to pay property taxes, including online at iowatreasurers.org, by mail to her office or the drop box on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse, along with hand delivering them to their office. Additionally, Mechaelsen says property tax payments are also made through escrow and they accept partial payments.
