At the Perry City Council meeting this past Monday there were more tax abatement applications for resident construction approved signaling more development in Perry.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says the tax abatement applications were for an area on 28th Street in Perry from Oakstone Homes. Peterson says there are roughly 12 homes currently under construction with more in the works.

“In the spring they will be putting in another street with a cul-de-sac behind there with about another 20 lots. Altogether I think these homes bring us to about 20 new homes this year in Perry which again is a great growth for us. Kind of that stable, steady growth that we are looking for.”

Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio these current homes and future homes that are planned for the spring are just the beginning as more inquiries for potential housing continue to come in.

“I think this is kind of the first wave of some really awesome things that are going to be happening in Perry bringing a good mix of housing to the community.”

The list of tax abatement applications approved at the most recent Perry City Council meeting included eight homes along 28th Street.
