A Texas man has been charged with a felony for drunk driving in Jefferson.
According to court documents, a Jefferson Police Officer responded to a call of an individual who appeared to be intoxicated and “passed out” in a parked vehicle at Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Jefferson at 11:43pm on September 17th. The officer found the driver, 27-year-old Jesse Whatley of Brazoria, Texas, asleep in his vehicle with a strong odor of alcohol coming from the 1999 Dodge truck.
Court documents show Whatley refused to take a field sobriety test, but admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving to Jefferson from Grand Junction. Whatley was then arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent OWI and a simple misdemeanor for public intoxication.
He was booked and released from the Greene County Jail after posting bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
