Ahead of the beginning of the school year the Perry Community School District was working on multiple projects which are still underway.

One of the projects is the Jim Kaufman Track renovation which Superintendent Clark Wicks says is nearly complete with final stages of work being completed in the next couple of weeks, with finishing touches. Wicks points out another project includes the middle school renovations.

“We hope to see things changing the first part of October. We are putting a big push with our contractors, the workers everybody is trying to do a great job with that. I think they are up to about 42, 44 people that are working compared to about 10 or 12 earlier.”

Wicks says there is still a lot of work that needs to be completed yet, but the process of having the middle school students in the high school has been a smooth transition while the renovations are finishing up.

“It has been so smooth because people have bought into the fact that we are going to make this work so that’s first of all and second the students have too so they know where to go, they know what’s going on and people are getting into a routine.”

Wicks says the middle school being in the high school and running smoothly is a good showing of Perry pride and teamwork.
