Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football has been able to rely on the legs and arm of senior quarterback Matt Dufoe throughout a lot of the season, and they did again on Friday night against North Polk as Dufoe accounted for five touchdowns as the Tigers snuck out with a road victory 38-35. The win for the Tigers was able to keep them undefeated at 3-0, while North Polk drops to 1-2 on the season.
Dufoe was able to have three touchdowns on the ground and two in the air, with the first two on the ground coming via 5 and 6 yards to give the Tigers an early 14-0 nothing lead, then a strike to Vince Benetti for 24 yards helped the Tigers keep the lead going into the locker room 21-13.
The Tigers specials teams forced a fumble to start the second half, and were able to capitalize with another Dufoe score, with the Tigers striking later in the quarter with Dufoe connecting with Cade Morse for 11 yards to take a 35-13 lead into the fourth.
North Polk was not done, trailing 38-20 with 3 plus minutes to go, they would score twice in the next minute plus to make it a 38-35 game, but ADM was able to recover an onside kick to finish off the game.
The Tigers got big play out of their defense as they got multiple turnovers on the night, with Jacob Crystal picking up multiple sacks, and David Finnegan able to have multiple pass breakups and some huge tackles on the night for the Tigers.
For ADM, they will close out their non-district play next week when they take on one of their rivals in Winterset, with hopes of keeping their undefeated record intact.
