The deadline to apply to be a candidate for the upcoming city-school elections is coming up soon.
The deadline is September 16th at 5 p.m. for the city-school board elections on November 2nd. Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm describes the process for someone to be a candidate for school boards, city councils as well as mayors.
“So, if you want to be a candidate for any of these positions you just need to file an affidavit of candidacy and have a petition with a certain amount of names and you can call our office and we can help you through that process and where to get the materials.”
Helm tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Secretary of State’s website will have the candidate materials available. Helm explains where potential candidates can submit their nomination forms.
“If you’re trying to run for a city position you need to file your paperwork in the (Dallas County) Auditor’s Office here in Adel. If you want to file for a school position you will go to that school district school (board) secretary and file with that person.”
Helm says it’s important to get candidates to run for the open positions. For more information on being a candidate you can go here.
