Playing for the first time since Aug. 26, Greene County hosted PCM (Monroe) in high school volleyball in the air-conditioned Greene County High School gym on Tuesday night. It was the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opener and the Rams won in four sets by scores of 26-24, 14-25, 25-14, 25-8. The victory puts the Rams at 1-0 in the league, 4-0 overall and 10-1 in sets. The Mustangs fell to 5-10 in matches.

The first set saw the Rams lead 6-1 before falling behind and PCM led 24-21 before the Rams scored the final five points to win set one by a 26-24 score. Set two saw the Rams commit seven service errors and they lost by double digits. Set three saw the Rams commit only two service errors to win by double-digits. The Rams jumped out to a 16-2 lead and had no service errors in the fourth set. When the Rams were serving, junior Natalie Heupel (pictured) had seven ace serves in the last set alone.
