The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is anticipating a high number of youth and disabled hunters in Guthrie County. 

The youth and the disabled deer hunting seasons begin September 18th and lasts through October 3rd. According to the DNR, youth have to be 18 years or younger and have to be with a licensed adult, and for disabled hunters, they must be  certified by their physician as disabled. DNR Conservation Officer  Jeremy King says these seasons are a great way to get adolescents out hunting or someone that is elderly and can’t walk for miles. King explains where you can go to get hunting licenses. 

“Well we got a couple options, you can go to any licensed vendor. So we have two in Guthrie County, so we got the (Guthrie County) Courthouse, Sparky’s Gas Station In Guthrie Center and Lakelumber in Panora.” 

King states there is an app called go outdoors IA, where people buy and show their licenses to conservation officers.
