early-voting

As residents are preparing to vote in the upcoming city-school elections in November, there are important changes to voter registration to be aware of.

Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm says one of those changes is the earlier registration period for eligible voters.

“Voter registration deadline has changed. It is now 15 days before the election which is Monday, October 18th for the city-school election this year.”

Helm tells Raccoon Valley Radio that absentee ballot request forms will need to be returned to the auditor’s office by October 18th by 5 p.m. Helm says another change is if you requested an absentee ballot by mail you need to get the ballot back by 8 p.m. November 2nd.

“If you don’t get your absentee ballot back to us by 8 o’clock on Election Day your vote won’t be counted. But if you don’t get your request into us by October 18th you can always vote at the polls or vote in our office.

Helm says early voting can be done at the auditor’s office from October 18th until November 1st. For a list of all of the changes you can go here.
