There are some similarities early in the high school football season between Greene County and Kuemper Catholic. The two non-district rivals will meet at Linduska Field in Jefferson on Friday night in a game that can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Both have 1-1 records, both lost season opening road games to smaller, but very good football schools, and both won on their home fields by shut out last Friday night. The Knights went on the road in week one and lost 40-14 to Logan-Magnolia after trailing 40-0. Kuemper Catholic won its home opener 34-0 over Atlantic last week. The Rams trailed ACGC in Guthrie Center on opening night 21-0 before tying the game late in regulation and falling 29-27 in overtime. Greene County won its home opener on Friday by a 63-0 final vs. Perry at Linduska Field in the annual “Cowbell” game. Coach Caden Duncan’s team put the 35-point rule continuous clock rule into effect with 1:39 to play in the first quarter and led 49-0 at intermission. Reserves finished it out for the Rams.
Friday’s game is “Mini-Cheerleading Night” with cheering performances prior to kickoff by the youngsters.
