The U.S. House is formally conducting an investigation into the January 6th attacks on the capitol building in Washington, D.C.
Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District Representative Randy Feenstra voted against the establishment of a separate house committee to investigate the January 6th incident, calling the matter a hyper partisan and political issue. He argues the House already has a system and protocols in place to handle issues like the capitol attacks.
“House standing committees have full authority, and jurisdiction, power to investigate these events. So that’s why I’m so critical of this turbo-charged partisan exercise is that the standing committees that we already have can do this.”
Feenstra adds, the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security have their own separate on-going investigations and he would rather wait to see what they issue in their final reports.
