Greenbrier Church

A special program will be held tomorrow with the Greene County Historical Society.

Historical Society Board member Chuck Offenburger will present a program, “Country Churches” where he will explore the over 20 country churches from the past and present in the county. He says at its peak in the early 1900s, there were nine religious denominations represented.

Offenburger will highlight four churches, including Trinity Lutheran Church in the southwest corner of the county, which was the last active rural congregation; Greenbrier United Methodist Church that recently closed and was located five miles west of Cooper, Pleasant Hill Methodist near Squirrel Hollow Park, and St. Pat’s-Cedar, which is five miles west of Churdan and the location of the presentation.

The program begins at 12:45pm and it is free and open to the public.
