With the beginning of the school year underway, a recent supply drive with the Perry Chamber of Commerce assisted getting students ready for the year.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says the recent Back to School Night at the Perry Farmers Market was a success with nine different special guests and the supply drive which helped collect needed items for area students.
“We were just overwhelmed, pleasantly surprised, with the bags, and bags, and bags of school supplies that rolled in from that. So, it was just very consistent throughout the night.”
Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio the supplies such as notebooks and pencils were delivered to the school buildings last week with St. Pats and Perry School District. Pasutti gives a special shoutout.
“I have to give a shout out to the police department. (Police) Chief (Eric) Vaughn challenged his officers to bring in school supplies and when I say bags and bags I think each officer brought in a bag of school supplies because there were book bags and then also bags just full of all of the things that the kids need.”
Pasutti says events like this show important collaboration for organizations in the community as well as giving people the opportunity to support one another.
