One cross-country meet and the home opening football game is all the Greene County Rams have on their varsity sports schedules this week.

Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s volleyball Rams went 3-0 last week, all on the home court, and they are off this week. The next scheduled competition is Tuesday, Sept. 7 inside the air-conditioned Greene County HS gym vs. PCM (Monroe).

Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s cross-country Rams had their scheduled first meet cancelled last Thursday, so now the Greene County girls and boys are set to open their seasons at the West Central Valley Coed meet this Thursday, Sept. 2.

Coach Caden Duncan’s football team opens the home portion of the schedule this Friday, Sept. 3 vs. Perry at Linduska Field at 7 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The game is the 91st renewal of the “Cowbell” rivalry with teams based in Jefferson holding a 59-29-2 advantage since the bell was introduced in 1928 by the Rotary Clubs of Jefferson and Perry.
