The Jefferson Police Department is investigating a string of vehicle burglaries that happened this past Sunday.
According to the police department, officers responded to 17 calls of vehicle burglaries, spanning from 7:46am to 5:38pm, with all incidents said to have happened overnight. Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio they are reviewing video footage from several sources and looking into every possible angle. He says there are four suspects, two males and two females, that wear black clothing and masks. Clouse believes these are the same suspects that have burglarized other vehicles last week in Boone County.
Clouse points out all of the vehicles that were burglarized were unlocked. He advises everyone to always lock their vehicles and to not keep valuables inside a vehicle. Clouse welcomes any information anyone has about these incidents to contact them at the law enforcement center in Jefferson. The non-emergency number is 515-386-2136.
