The Panorama Panthers opened up their season at home last night against the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks and came away with a victory.

The Panthers were facing a Tigerhawks team searching for its first win since 2019 and the Tigerhawks came out of the first quarter leading the Panthers 7-6. Then as the second quarter got underway the Panthers managed eight more points to go up 14-7 headed to halftime.

With the third quarter the Panthers scored six more to go up 20-7 headed to the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw more offense as the Tigerhawks brought the score to within five 5 and outscored the Panthers 14-6 in the fourth but the Panthers came out on top 26-21 as the final.

Head Football Coach Mike Kauzlarich says while there were some issues as a team throughout the game the Panthers ended on the right side of the win column. Kauzlarich says the offensive line and defense played well but penalties were an issue which needs to be worked on moving into next week.

Kauzlarich says the Panthers did just enough to get the win against the Tigerhawks but will look for continued improvement to keep winning games this year.

The Panthers will look ahead to their week two match up, a sort of revenge game, against the Pella Christian Eagles who knocked them out of the playoffs last year 19-21. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. September 3rd at Pella Christian High School.
