It’s been just over one year since two organizations in Jefferson have merged.
Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community has been in existence since July of 2020. It is the merger of the former Jefferson Area Chamber of Commerce and Jefferson Matters: Main Street. Board President Jamie Daubendiek talks about the volunteer-led combined organization.
“I’m still blown away about all of the things that we get accomplished. That’s what has set us apart is that we don’t just think of ideas and hope that someone else will do it. It’s a group of do’ers and if they think of an idea, they find a way to execute it and execute it at a very high level.”
Daubendiek points out the accomplishments their group has had is also making impacts on others.
“People have come back. (I’ve) Talked to a couple of people that I know that have moved back to the area because of all the great accomplishments that people have done. It’s a full circle of just picking up trash and making this place look good to full-blown recruiting (and) getting people to move back here, and helping the entire base.”
There are several teams that people can volunteer for. Interested individuals can contact the Welcome Center in Jefferson at 515-386-2155 or stop by to learn more.
