The Greene County School District continues to partner with a local entity to provide sports medicine coverage this school year.
The School Board previously approved a contract with 21st Century Rehabilitation with the Greene County Medical Center in a 28E agreement. The agreement requires 21st Century personnel to be on site for most of the home high school sporting events, including postseason, and some home middle school sports, including football, wrestling and track. Personnel will also be on site additional days during football season during practices.
Superintendent Tim Christensen says 21st Century also provides baseline testing and protocols for concussions, which started several years ago with the youth football program with the Greene County Youth Athletic Association. Christensen is excited about continuing their partnership with 21st Century Rehab.
“It proves to be very great for us as a district and for our athletes. 21st Century does a great job because it’s amazing how many injuries there are. But there’s a lot of things that happen at the games and matches, and everything. It’s great to have a certified trainer and everything at those games.”
The contract that the School Board approved was for $8,500.
