Dallas County Conservation will be hosting the annual Prairie Awakening-Prairie Awoke celebration soon.

The event will take place in the tallgrass prairie location at Kuehn Conservation Area from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 11th. The theme for this year is “The Healing Continues” and everyone is welcomed to attend the free event.

The event will feature naturalists engaging the audience in the release of tagged monarch butterflies and a healed and rehabilitated Red-Tailed Hawk will be released as well. Also, Dallas Chief Eagle will share his Hoop Dance traditions. Also, the Brown Otter Drum from the Meskwaki Settlement will provide music for the presentations.

Masks will be required for all those attending the event and a food truck will be available on-site. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
