Jaylen Karolus led Perry Thursday at the season opening event.

The Perry girls placed 4th out of 8 teams Thursday at the Southeast Valley Invitational held at the Gowrie Cross Country Club.  The girls ran a 5k.  The Jayettes placed 4th with 112 points and was led by Jaylene Karolus.  The senior placed 10th with a time of 23:18.01.  Freshman Julie Maylum made an impressive varisty debut placing 19th with a time of 24:41.50.  Fellow freshman Amy Diaz took 33rd while freshmen Taryn Nehring and Mercedes Ponce placed 39th and 40th with times of 26:54.68.
