A tradition returns tonight when both the Perry and Odgen cross country teams will bring the gameball from Ogden to Perry tonight for the 7:00 kickoff at Dewey Field. They won’t be driving the ball down from the Ogden campus, but rather running the football the 16 miles south from Ogden high school to Perry’s Dewey Field. Perry cross country coach Shalena Bell explains.
“Former Perry Coach Jeff Fox reached out to me back in May when the schedules were released and said we had to bring back the tradition of running the game ball from Ogden to Perry. So I reached out to Ogden and they were all in. The preparation actually started back in May and we plotted our route south over the entire 16 miles. We will start at the Ogden high school, cross highway 30 and then head over to some gravel roads so we aren’t running on highway 169 the whole way. We will take off around 3:30 and should arrive in Perry by gametime!”
The Perry high school coaches will provide dinner and snacks for both cross country teams at the Van Kirk Plaza inside Dewey Field tonight.
