A local group in Perry presented a custom made work of art at the Hotel Pattee this past Wednesday.
The Perry Piecemakers Quilt Guild presented a custom made quilt that was made for the Woodworking Room in Hotel Pattee. Hotel Manager Jenny Eklund says the presentation of the quilt was a good experience.
“I don’t usually get emotional, but this one’s got me, this one’s tugging at my heart because of the community support ,and the community love, and the community care for this hotel and that’s how we are here in Perry, we take care of each other in so many different ways.”
Member of the Guild Pat Mundy says the quilt was made specifically for the bed in the Woodworking Room in the hotel. Mundy says from start to finish the quilt took approximately 120 hours to complete by 13 people off and on working on the quilt which culminated in its presentation this past Wednesday.
“It’s kind of like being a parent and seeing something that your child has done that’s been successful and you think ‘oh, we did something right.’ Especially this one because we did design the pattern, we picked the fabrics, we measured the bed, we made it to fit precisely on this bed.”
Mundy says this won’t be the only custom made quilt that will be placed in rooms inside the Hotel Pattee.
