The new Meadow View Elementary School in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is nearing completion ahead of the start of the school year later this month.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the construction of the new elementary is down to punch list items.

“All those hundreds of small details that need to be ironed out and completed before kids come on the 30th. We know that just like when you move into a new home, the first night you sleep there all of your boxes aren’t unpacked. It’s going to be pretty similar for us, we won’t be completely settled in there for some time.”

Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio that while the project isn’t completely finished yet school staff will be on-site to greet students when the school year begins. Dufoe says people will soon know more about their opportunity to view the building.

“We are planning a dedication and a community open house, and we anticipate that being on September 16th. And more information will be sent out to our parents and community as we finalize more of those details.”

Dufoe says not only will there be a new elementary school, they recently welcomed 26 new teachers into the school district.
