The Greene County School Board held a work session this past Wednesday.

The Board decided to maintain its goals from last school year, with attention to two goals, including one additional goal of prioritizing and monitoring curriculum to be accurate in accordance with the new law. The other goal the Board will plan to utilize more is increasing communication and finding new, effective ways to communicate with students, staff, administration, parents and the public.

The Board then heard administrator reports. Middle School Principal Shawn Zanders said the student class schedule has been changed for the upcoming school year. The class periods are 58-59 minutes, which does not allow for as much transition time and allows for more intervention with students. Additionally, study hall has been eliminated.

Activities Director Todd Gordon reported that live streams of football home games will be available this season, along with sporting events inside the high school gym. He also mentioned starting leadership talks with any student or staff member that will take place every Tuesday during the school year starting at 7:43am.

Finally, Elementary Principal Scott Johnson said there were 100 kids registered for kindergarten and about 85 kids for pre-kindergarten.
