GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton gave an update on the veterans recruitment program. He said he sent out six resumes to the major employers in Greene County and Landus Cooperative has also hired a veteran who applied through the program. It is designed for veterans to locate and work in Greene County, while also receiving some benefits to help with the move. Paxton also mentioned that the former Genesis Development building has been sold to a private business, which is also looking into sub-leasing the office space within the facility.
Brian Hill with Landus Cooperative reported that they are going to discontinue using the beef feed mill in Jefferson. He said the decision was made due to the service not being worth the money spent on the facility and the cooperative just entered an optimization agreement with another beef company.
During reports, Wild Rose Jefferson General Manager Travis Dvorak said the last four months have been the casino’s top months ever. He also reported that DraftKings was first in revenue for sportsbooks and second in handle in Iowa.
