2021 winner: Angelica by Joe and Terry Malesky of Strafford Missouri

The Tower View Team of Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community recently announced this year’s winner of the Ring Out for Art Contest.

Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn says over 325 people voted at the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower and the People’s Choice recipient of $500 is from Missouri with Joe Malesky’s “Angelica” sculpture. She points out the fish sculpture is entirely made from recyclable materials.

“Including a very large rock that forms Angelica’s face. That rock was exactly that shape when Joe found that rock, and he immediately said he saw in that rock that it should be an angel fish. So Angelica was born.”

McGinn notes the winning sculpture will remain on the south side of the Greene County Courthouse until next May and the three other sculptures will be removed at the end of October. The four finalists and their sculpture have been on the courthouse grounds since the Bell Tower Festival for people to vote for their favorite. McGinn thanks everyone that participated and Home State Bank for supporting the contest financially.
