It’s not a game that counts on the season record, but Greene County hosts Nevada starting at 5:30 p.m. in the annual Sports Drink Scrimmage at Linduska Field in Jefferson. Activities Director Todd Gordon contacted Raccoon Valley Radio with some changes to the original format.
The scrimmage for varsity players will start at 5:30 p.m., which is a change from the original plan. Gordon cited the possibility of stormy weather as the reason for the change. The varsity teams will have a format of two-20 minute halves with a continuous clock.
If the varsity scrimmage is done and the weather cooperates, the JVR (mainly freshmen with some sophomores) will scrimmage the Cubs, followed by the Nevada and Greene County JV teams.
Admission is a sports drink of some kind.
Greene County starts the regular season schedule next Friday, Aug. 27 in Guthrie Center vs. ACGC in non-district action. All Greene County football games starting Aug. 27 can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
