The beginning of the 2021-22 school year for the Greene County School District starts Monday and earlier this week, an annual event brought all staff back together.
A Welcome Back Staff event was held at the Greene County High School Thursday, where all staff members were invited to enjoy a free breakfast, provided by Ram Restaurant and the Friends of the Jefferson Library. Following the meal, a program was held in the auditorium.
Jefferson Library Director Jane Millard spoke about the continuing partnership between the library and the school district and reviewed the resources the library offers for students.
Superintendent Tim Christensen then introduced the 26 new staff members to the district. He also acknowledged that the start of the school year will be a challenge because of the lasting effects from the COVID-19 pandemic and how it altered last school year. He shared a message for staff to focus on the phrase of “control what you can control.”
“We talk about, we worry about things that we have zero control over, that is a waste of your time. Control what you can control. We have control over making our lesson so exciting that every single kid wants to be in that classroom.”
Christensen also talked about shifting attention to the positive, sharing positives with other people, not bad-mouthing other staff members and the district in public and being aware of everyone’s mental and physical well-being. See the list below of all the new staff members to the district.
