With crews back on-site working on the Raccoon Valley Radio tower project, the timeline has been updated.

The crews from Wallace Tower will be working on the center tower this week replacing the porcelain insulator as well as the transmission line and antennas for the 99.7FM KDLS signal. General Manager John McGee says crews began this process by staging.

“They are extending and replacing different anchors on the guy’s so that they have room to extend those. They are also getting the jack assembly mounted to the tower and extremely level.”

McGee says today and maybe into Thursday is when the crews will begin lifting the tower. McGee says at the end of this week is when the crews will begin working on replacing the antennas and transmission line for the 99.7FM KDLS signal, which will cause interruptions.

“Once they are fully ready to strip the tower and put the new stuff on the tower, that’s when we will have the long off air on 99.7(FM) while they do that process. When we’ve done this at some of our other tower sites it’s usually about a six to eight hour off time.”

If there are on-air interruptions for 99.7FM KDLS, you can tune in to 1310AM KDLS, the KDLS app on your electronic device or online at raccoonvalleyradio.com
