The 2020 U.S. Census has been released for Iowa.

According to the State Data Center, Dallas County has the highest overall population increase in the state from 2010 to 2020, with its population increasing by 50.7-percent. The number of people living in Dallas County went from 66,133 in 2010 to 99,678 in 2020. Dallas County also saw an overall increase in the number of housing units by 50.9-percent. 

As for Greene County, the overall population decreased from 2010 to 2020 by 6.1-percent. The population was at 9,336 in 2010 and dropped to 8,771 in 2020. By comparison, the number of housing units also dropped by 5.2-percent.

Guthrie County’s overall population saw a decrease of three-percent from 2010 to 2020. The number of people living in Guthrie County went from 10,954 in 2010 to 10,623 in 2020. Housing units were up slightly by 0.3-percent.

Overall in the state of Iowa, there was a 4.7-percent population growth and a 7.4-percent population growth across the U.S. These figures will be used by each respective Iowa county’s temporary redistricting commission to discuss if the election boundary lines need to change.
