A taser was used on a suspect following a chase incident in Jefferson Thursday afternoon.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, at 4:09pm an officer located a vehicle from a state wide broadcast of a suspect that was involved in a domestic abuse incident in Guthrie County from earlier in the day. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver, 26-year-old William Magneson of Woodward refused and a chase ensued.

The chase started near the intersection of Elm and Grauer streets, went north on Elm Street to the Wild Rose Casino and Resort parking lot. Magneson’s vehicle went back to Highway 30 and back south on Elm Street to Gallop Road in the Super 8 Hotel parking lot. The report shows Magneson got out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. The officers chased him into the hotel lobby where one of the officers deployed a taser, which had little effect on Magneson. Following a short struggle, Magneson was eventually apprehended.

Officers located suspected heroin on Magneson, who admitted to injecting the narcotic shortly before the incident started. Two police vehicles also sustained minor damages from the pursuit.

Magneson was charged with a Class D Felony for his second offense for eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor for reckless driving and two simple misdemeanors for interference with official acts and driving while license is suspended. He was also cited four times for failure to obey stop sign and dark windows. OWI charges are also pending test results. He faces additional charges from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and will be transported to the Guthrie County Jail to face charges there later.

Magneson was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $5,000 cash-only bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
