A year after finishing runner-up in 3A girls cross country, the Dallas Center – Grimes girls team will be looking to put together another special season for the 2021 year. The girls team will be returning four runners from their state roster last year, and will be looking to replace three key runners, but they do have the talent to get back to Fort Dodge as a team this year.

Junior Kami Smith will be the top returner for the Mustangs, as she will be looking to have another great season, one that saw an 11th place finish in the state race and the top overall mark on the DCG team. Hannah Little has a nice season last year finishing 36th at state, and believes that numbers should be improved this year. Junior Meredith McDermott was able to finish in the top 50 of the state in the race last year, and sophomore Vanessa Bickford was able to get a good experience on the course during her first campaign and will be looking for improvement.

DCG will start their season within the next couple of weeks against multiple teams, as DCG will be hoping to get back to Fort Dodge, and find a way to get back to the podium for the 4th consecutive year.
