Much like other organizations, the Raccoon Valley Radio tower project is facing delays due to the ongoing public health crisis. 

General Manager John McGee says the crews from Wallace Tower are still in the process of fabricating the equipment needed to continue work on the center tower in Perry. McGee explains the reason for the delay of the project until next week. 

“Pure and simple answer is supplies. In order for Wallace Tower to come back and continue to work on that center tower they are designing and building the jack and the guy wire extensions in order to make that work and in order to do that there’s a number of parts that they are trying to get in from a number of their suppliers.”

McGee says while the project is delayed until the week of August 16th to continue the work of lifting the tower and replacing the porcelain insulator and work on the antennas and transmission line there is constant communication. 

“It’s really circumstances beyond what they can control. They’re doing a great job of keeping us in the loop of what’s going on but we are not immune to what everybody else in the world is feeling as far as some supply shortages and not sure when the steel and the metal and stuff is going to come in.”

McGee adds there is potential for another delay but he anticipates work to resume next week.
