Jed Magee doing another Lincoln program in 2021
The Greene County Historical Society will be hosting another special event this Sunday.
Jefferson resident Jed Magee is an expert on former president Abraham Lincoln and will be the guest speaker of “Lincoln’s Learning and His Mentors” at 2pm at the historical museum. Magee is a Dunkerton native and began practicing law after he moved to Jefferson. He was then appointed as an Iowa District Court judge, based in Charles City. He retired in 2015.
Magee first became a fan of Lincoln when his seventh grade teacher had him do research on the 16th U.S. president. From there, Magee started a collection of Lincoln memorabilia, including two photos of Lincoln that are over 100 years old and 30 busts that show different stages of life of the former president. Most of his collection has been donated to the historical society in 2016.
The free Sunday program will include refreshments and Magee will answer questions from the audience. No pre-registration is necessary.
