The Jefferson Kiwanis Club invites area youth to a special weekend event.
The non-profit organization is hosting a Pirate Story Book Adventure at Russell Park Saturday. Kiwanis President Thomas Laehn says the event is for 4-7 year-olds and he describes what the children and their families get to do.
“Each child will be given a treasure map with 13 stations throughout the park. At each station will be a Kwianian who will be reading from a book. The children will go from station to station. By the time they complete the entire course, they will have read two full pirate stories.”
Laehn adds, each child that completes the course will receive a free book and a coupon for a free ice cream cone from the A&W Restaurant in Jefferson. The free event begins at 9am, as children will be led in different groups, with the final group at 10. In case of inclement weather, the location will be moved to the Greene County Community Center.
The event is co-sponsored by the Jefferson Public Library and the Jefferson Kiwanis Club. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
