A Jefferson man was arrested following a brief high-speed chase Sunday night.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at 7:30pm on Highway 30 when a deputy tried to stop a speeding motorcycle near the intersection of S Avenue. Sheriff Jack Williams says the driver of the motorcycle, 48-year-old Ryan Brown refused to stop and the chase ensued, with speeds reaching 110 miles per hour.
Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio, a Jefferson Police Officer assisted as Brown stopped the motorcycle at Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Jefferson. Williams says Brown went inside the convenience store where he was apprehended without incident. No one was hurt and there was no property damage.
Brown was charged with a Class D Felony for eluding, along with misdemeanors for interference with official acts and reckless driving. He was booked and released from the Greene County Jail under his own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
