Ahead of the upcoming school year, many families may need some extra help in finding available food. 

The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce and Guthrie County New Opportunities are putting on a Summer Food Drive from August 2nd to the 16th. 

New Opportunities Director Rhonda Huggins describes who will benefit and what they need for the food drive. 

“It will benefit the low income folks in Guthrie County, any of the folks on our services. The items that we are needing the most would be canned soup, canned vegetables and paper products is something we don’t get a lot of.” 

Drop off donation locations are at New Opportunities at 400 State Street, Dollar General at 410 State Street and at Hometown Foods at 200 State Street.
