After the Perry City Council awarded a contract earlier this year for the wastewater treatment facility improvements, the project is continuing to move along.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says the project has been in the planning stages for several years and after awarding the contract in the spring to Woodruff Construction they are working on getting materials on-site.

“They have been working on ordering materials, getting things on-site. They have been mobilizing on-site, setting up their offices because this is going to be probably a 12-18 month project. So, they are actually going to be setting up mobile offices, things like that.”

Peterson anticipates the project to begin construction next month.

The Perry City Council approved the project during their May 17th council meeting and the cost of the project is $27 million while the loan is $28.9 million to also cover design and loan costs to make improvements and repairs to the facility that is at the end of its life cycle.
