An annual contest is taking place this weekend at Spring Lake Park to bring a little holiday cheer in the summer.

The Christmas in July contest allows any recreational vehicles to be decorated for the December holiday. Vehicles can be entered starting at 5pm this Friday, with judging to take place Saturday at dusk. Prizes include a free two-night stay in one of the park’s cabins, a $50 Casey’s General Store gift card, one hour of free boating at the park and four free scoops of ice cream from the concession stand for first place. Second place will earn two free nights of camping, two hours of free boating, eight free skating passes and eight scoops of ice cream. Third place will receive a cooler, two free quarts of ice cream and two beach chairs.

The event is hosted by the Ice Cube Concession and Skating Rink at Spring Lake Park. The contest is free and open to the public who have RVs. Contact them for more information at 515-370-2501 or email at icecubeconcessions@gmail.com.
