This week’s drought has subsided a little after some good rainfall in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area.
According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, all of Guthrie County, and the majority of Greene and Dallas are under a moderate drought. The northeast part of Greene and Dallas counties are still in a severe drought. About 30 counties are suffering from a severe drought, and only about 24 portions or entire counties are not in a drought, mostly in southeastern Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service, since July 1st through this past Friday, Perry has received 3.28-inches of rainfall, Jefferson had 3.08-inches of rainfall, and Guthrie Center saw 3.49-inches.
