While the Perry Chamber of Commerce routinely does events, there is one item that frequently comes up for people to purchase or win. 

Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says one item people can either purchase themselves or win as a prize is Perry Bucks. Pasutti says this currency spends just like regular money does and they come in increments of $5 and $10. 

“Someone, whether it’s the Chamber or a business or you individually, would come to the Chamber office, purchase however much you’d like, in increments of $5 and $10 and then we would give you Perry Bucks. They look like dollar bills and then you can go spend them. Then the businesses that have accepted these as payment would come back to the Perry Chamber and get reimbursed for them.”

Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio a lot of businesses and organizations will use Perry Bucks for events or giveaways. Pasutti says the Perry Bucks are a good way to get people involved in the community and its businesses.

“We have a list of more than 100 members here in town and so it’s a nice way to support them and really encourage shopping local, spending local dollars and that really revolves in our community in a compound way.”

Pasutti says as long as the business is a Chamber member they can accept Perry Bucks ranging from restaurants, shopping at local retail stores and even getting services such as getting your oil changed and the Perry Bucks do not expire.
